The Australian Government will support 18 new projects in Solomon Islands next year through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP), with a total value of nearly $35 million.
These locally led initiatives will focus on practical outcomes for Solomon Islanders, including:
- Helping cocoa farmers improve production and access new markets
- Preventing and treating avoidable blindness, expanding access to essential eye health services
- Strengthening climate resilience, helping communities adapt to environmental challenges
- Building women’s leadership, creating opportunities for women to lead and influence decision-making

The Australian High Commission recently launched one of the new projects to be delivered by NGO Save the Children.
Entitled Gud Tomoro: Komiuniti Tugeta for Lukautim Pikinini, this 4-year child-protection project will be implemented across 14 communities in three provinces. It will work with children, caregivers and local leaders to promote positive parenting and strengthen community safety.
Australia’s Acting High Commissioner, Andrew Schloeffel said strong partnerships with NGOs deliver real, lasting benefits.
“We’re proud to support the life-changing work that Australian NGOs do to improve livelihoods and outcomes for Solomon Islanders,” Mr Schloeffel said.
“These projects will help communities build resilience in their own way and create opportunities for women, families and entire communities.”
In 2025, the Australian Government will provide AUD143 million for the ANCP, enabling more than 60 accredited Australian NGOs to deliver over 340 projects in more than 50 countries.
Now in its 51st year, the ANCP continues to strengthen Australia’s partnerships with trusted organisations delivering practical, locally led development outcomes.
