The Maringe-Kokota Constituency (MKC) office of Isabel Province has expressed its gratitude to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) through its Embassy in Honiara for a generous donation of 20 water tanks to support its efforts to improve community livelihoods.
Constituency Development Officer (CAO) Jonathan Liloro said that the water tanks will be distributed to needy communities, schools, and families in the constituency.
“This support is indeed a blessing and the first of its kind for our constituency, marking a milestone in our efforts to improve rural community livelihoods.”

Mr. Liloro emphasized that access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene is the most basic human need for health and well-being.
He said that providing communities, schools, and families with access to clean and safe water for domestic use through the use of these tanks, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, is of critical importance.
“On behalf of the Honourable Minister and Member of Parliament Cathy Nori, the constituency office, and the people of Maringe-Kokota, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to the PRC government for its timely support.”
He also acknowledged the PRC’s ongoing support for constituencies toward their rural development initiatives in the country.
Mr. Liloro highlighted that such a partnership between the constituency office and PRC is essential for progress, as it encourages collaboration, pools resources and expertise, improves efficiency, and fosters sustainable development through combined efforts.
He also thanked the people of Maringe-Kokota constituency for their ongoing support, patience, and understanding towards the constituency office throughout the year.
The Chinese Embassy in Honiara expressed its sincere pleasure in supporting Maringe-Kokota and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to assisting the Solomon Islands in promoting sustainable development, enhancing livelihoods, and fostering self-reliance. The Embassy also looks forward to ongoing collaboration and the realization of practical initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to communities across the country.
Mr. Liloro further stated that the constituency office looks forward to continued cooperation with PRC, ensuring such practical partnership benefit everyone.
Delivery of the livelihood projects are currently underway in the constituency.
