The Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon Peter Shanel Agovaka represented Solomon Islands at the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers’ Meeting (CFAMM) held at Lancaster House, in London on 8 March 2026.

The CFAMM commenced with a Leaders’ Retreat in the first session, providing a unique opportunity for Commonwealth Foreign Ministers to engage in candid dialogue on key thematic areas, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency of the Commonwealth in promoting the social, economic and democratic resilience of member countries.

The Retreat was closely followed by the CFAMM plenary, where the Commonwealth Secretariat updated Foreign Ministers on key activities, including preparations for the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda, November 2026.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade reaffirmed Solomon Islands’ commitment to Commonwealth’s values and principles, calling for reforms that will expediate the Commonwealth’s strategic priorities and mobilise resources, heighten advocacy on shared issues such as climate change, strengthen the trade agenda, and foster an inclusive environment for women, youth and persons with disabilities.

The Minister will be joining Commonwealth Day celebrations in London on March 9; attending a Service at Westminster Abbey, followed by a reception hosted by King Charles III at St James’ Palace.
