Honiara, Solomon Islands, 05 July 2025 – A cabinet reshuffle under the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) was formalized earlier this month at Government House, where one ministerial reassignment was officially confirmed and sworn in by the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Reverend David Tiva Kapu.
As part of the reshuffle, Honourable Polycarp Paea, MP for Malaita Outer Islands and former Minister for Lands, Housing and Survey, has been appointed as the new Minister for Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.
The reassignment follows the formal revocation of his previous portfolio and reflects GNUT’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its leadership team to advance national development efforts.
Prime Minister Honourable Jeremiah Manele congratulated Honourable Paea on his new appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to lead this critical ministry.
“I am confident Honourable Paea will bring strong leadership and a renewed focus to this portfolio as we continue to work towards our shared national priorities.”
In addition to today’s swearing-in, two other ministers who have been reassigned under the reshuffle are scheduled to be officially sworn in next Tuesday. Details of their new portfolios will be announced following the ceremony.
This reshuffle forms part of GNUT’s broader commitment to ensuring an effective, capable, and forward-looking Cabinet aligned with the vision of national unity and transformation.
