The Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination (MNPDC) presented important national development documents to Prime Minister, Jeremiah Manele, during the launch of the National Development Strategy (NDS) 2016-2035 Medium Term Review Report in Honiara on Friday 17th October 2025.
Prime Minister Manele launched the NDS Medium Term Review Report and four other documents namely; the Smooth Transition Strategy to Support Graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) Status, Unlocking Potential for Productive Sectors: Challenges, Opportunities and Policy Considerations, the National Monitoring and Evaluation Systems Strengthening Strategy 2024–2028 and the MNPDC Corporate Plan 2025–2027.
Prepared by the MNPDC, these documents provided a roadmap on how the country can move forward with its national development planning, program design and implementation in the coming years.
These documents will help the Government and its development partners to align actions, use evidence for decision-making and ensure national development efforts deliver real and measurable benefits for all Solomon Islanders.

During his address at the launch event, Prime Minister Manele noted that the launching of these documents marks a defining moment in the country’s development journey. It highlights achievements and challenges. For instance, the report noted progress in areas such as infrastructure, education and disaster management and issues in areas like health, poverty reduction and environmental sustainability.
These documents were made possible through the support of development partners including the United Nations Development Programme’s Governance for Resilient Development in the Pacific (Gov4Res), the Government of New Zealand, the European Union and the Government of Australia, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), World Bank, Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI), Alinea International, Pacific Community (SPC), Dignity Pasifik and other stakeholders.
Prime Minister Manele acknowledged development partners for their continued support to the Government through the MNPDC.
Minister for the MNPDC, Trevor Manemahaga, and his Permanent Secretary, Brian Lenga, and officials from the MNPDC joined Members of Parliament, senior government officials, development partners and civil society and the private sector representatives to also witness the event.
