Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele has expressed gratitude to the people of Solomon Islands for their warm reception and hospitality during the 54th Pacific Islands Forum, which concluded on Friday.

The week-long (8-12 September, 2025) forum brought together leaders from across the Pacific to discuss shared challenges and opportunities, with Solomon Islands taking center stage as a gracious and capable host.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Prime Minister Manele praised citizens across Honiara, Munda, and Noro for creating a memorable atmosphere for visiting leaders.

“I wish to thank the people of Solomon Islands for your warm hospitality,” he said.

“Your cultural performances, your smiles, and the warmth you’ve shown during the opening ceremony and throughout this week captured the true essence of Solomon Islands hospitality.”

The Prime Minister said the spirit shown by ordinary citizens made the gathering not only a success but one that would be remembered.

“You have made this gathering not only successful but also memorial. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

He also paid tribute to his cabinet and government officials, recognizing their commitment and unity throughout the event.

“My ministers, your solidarity, your commitment to national unity, and your support have been the backbone of our ability to host this historic meeting,” Manele said.

Special recognition was also given to the core chairs of the National Organising Committee — Sir Jimmy Rogers and Permanent Secretary Collin Beck — along with the various sub-committees that helped organize the week-long event.

“Your leadership and hard work has been indispensable,” he added.

“Let us take this opportunity to thank each and all of you who have been involved to ensure we are able to host, run, and successfully complete the 54th Pacific Islands Forum.”

Meanwhile, PM Manele reflected on the success of the event and looked forward with optimism.

“As we bring the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting to a close, I’m filled with gratitude and optimism for our future.”
