Prime Minister Hon. Matthew Wale was today accorded a Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the Prime Minister’s Office to meet Japan’s Prime Minister, Hon. Sanae Takaichi.
Prime Minister Takaichi acknowledged the visit, describing it as a significant occasion in honour of a special guest, and reaffirmed the strong and longstanding relationship between Japan and Solomon Islands.
During their meeting, the two leaders held bilateral talks focused on strengthening cooperation and deepening ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Takaichi emphasised that Solomon Islands remains a true friend of Japan, reaffirming Japan’s continued support for the Government and people of Solomon Islands.
In response, Prime Minister Wale expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
“Solomon Islands values Japan as a trusted friend that has stood with us through thick and thin. We deeply value this partnership and remain grateful for Japan’s continued support,” Prime Minister Wale said.
Prime Minister Wale further assured that Solomon Islands remains committed to maintaining strong and stable relations with Japan and all its development partners.
As part of the ceremony, Prime Minister Takaichi presented Prime Minister Wale with a soccer ball and a ceremonial sword, known as an ‘iaitou’, symbolising friendship and goodwill between the two nations.
