Honiara, Solomon Islands – The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) is pleased to announce the formal admission of its inaugural cohort of members from the Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands (YECSI) Transition Pathway.
The membership sign-up, which took place last Friday, marks a significant milestone in the formalization of youth-led enterprises within the national economy.
Seven members from the 2026 Transition Cohort officially executed their membership with SICCI, representing the first wave of a broader initiative.
In total, 16 young entrepreneurs and enterprises have successfully fulfilled all transition requirements for the year and have now commenced their formal association with the Chamber.
These individuals and businesses were selected based on demonstrated business growth, operational performance, and their effective engagement with developmental opportunities throughout 2025.
The Transition Program, established as a strategic priority by YECSI last year, provides a structured and supportive pathway for emerging businesses to evolve from the informal sector into formal, regulated enterprises.
With the continued support of key stakeholders, this inaugural cohort now enters a new phase of professional development and integration into the broader business community.
The newly admitted members operate across a diverse range of sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, laundry services, events management, and catering.
YECSI Coordinator Moses Aunama Jnr said in collaboration with its partners, YECSI remains committed to the advancement of this cohort through a series of specialized quarterly training interventions.
Aunama adds that these programs will focus on strengthening core business competencies, including financial accounting, strategic management, professional networking, and regulatory compliance. The first training session for the 2026 cohort is scheduled for April.
While transitioning to full SICCI membership, these entrepreneurs will retain their affiliation with YECSI and are expected to serve as mentors to emerging members, thereby contributing to a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.
YECSI Chairman Mr. Limahl Totogi acknowledged the Solomon Islands Government, through its relevant line ministries, for their instrumental support in enabling this transition pathway.
He further reiterated YECSI’s objective to facilitate annual transitions for members, contingent upon demonstrated business readiness and growth.
This inaugural cohort represents more than a membership expansion; it signifies the maturation of a national framework that empowers young entrepreneurs to commence operations informally, scale sustainably, and transition confidently into the formal economy.
SICCI extends its warmest welcome to the new members and looks forward to supporting their continued growth and contribution to the nation’s economic development.
