The UK High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Paul Turner, visited the Tina Hydro Development Project On February 20 , 2026 to assess its progress.

Accompanied by energy specialists, he observed the construction, safety protocols, and engineering milestones at the Garivera Campsite, Dam Site, and Powerhouse Site.
The UK, a major contributor to the Green Climate Fund, supports the project’s goal of providing clean, affordable energy.
Turner reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to climate-resilient development, highlighting the project’s potential to reduce reliance on diesel, lower electricity costs, and support national climate goals.
The project, led by the Solomon Islands Government, receives funding from various international partners.
