Acting Prime Minister, Hon. Frederick Kologeto, MP, today joined the people of Northwest Guadalcanal to celebrate Guadalcanal Province’s Second Appointed Day.
This year’s celebration for Northwest Guadalcanal was held under the theme: “Transforming Potentials into Ownership and Prosperity”.
Speaking at the official ceremony in Mamara, Northwest Guadalcanal, the Acting Prime Minister Congratulated Hon. Francis Motcho Belande Sade, Minister for Public Service and Member of Parliament for the constituency, for his leadership and vision in organizing the constituency into economic zones – an initiative worth emulating in his own constituency

Acting Prime Minister Kologeto stated that the initiative aligns closely with both the constituency development plan and the national policy goals.
“This is more than a ceremony. It’s a turning point – where communities are taking ownership of their future through structured, inclusive economic development,” the acting PM said.
The Acting Prime Minister emphasized that the event’s theme reflects three core concepts- Potential, Ownership, and Prosperity.
He stressed that whether in people, land, or resources, potential must be guided by vision, cooperation and partnership to become meaningful. Ownership, must be earned through responsibility and contribution, not assumed by entitlement.
He added that prosperity is the result of collective effort, sustained growth, and long-term investment.
The Acting Prime Minister also linked the economic zones initiative to the four policy pillars of the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT)- Unity and Stability, Infrastructure Development, Economic Transformation and Human Capital Development.
He highlighted that Northwest Guadalcanal is well-positioned to benefit from the initiative, given its fertile agricultural lands, rich marine areas, cultural and historical landmarks, and its proximity to Honiara.
“I encourage the people of Northwest Guadalcanal to rise to the challenge, use this plan to meet their needs, and secure the future of their children,” he said.
The Acting Prime Minister also thanked the traditional leaders and community members of Northwest Guadalcanal for supporting their Member of Parliament to turn their development plans into tangible action.
