Wednesday 28 July, 2021 has marked another milestone achievement for SINU Faculty of Education and Humanitiess as it officially opened its new complex.
The official opening of the multimillion dollar complex was staged at the SINU Panatina campus in east Honiara yesterday.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare was the guest of honour during the grand official opening programme.
Others also witnessed the official programme includes senior government officials, Members of SINU council, diplomatic corps, reps from the private sectors, development partners, staffs and students of SINU.
Welcoming participants in his opening remarks to the FEH complex opening, Pro vice Chancellor Shadrach Fanega said full support for the university is necessary to ensure a strong foundation.
“Thank you all, more sincerely for accepting the humble invitation of our acting vice chancellor for the occasional opening of the FEH complex.
Fanega said that SINU should be the pride of the nation hence it needs significant investment to obtain the real status of the university.
The vice pro chancellor further highlights that since the official establishment of SINU in 2013, capital development at SINU suffers serious shortages infrastructure and equipment.
Mr Fanega said in light of the COVID-19 pandemic it provide a time that the SIG and stakeholders need to invest in SINU towards future endeavours of the institution.
“In the context of COVID19 pandemic impacts around the world, particularly the restrictions, limitations to travel, overseas training, this provides an opportunity and time for SIG and stakeholders to seriously invest in tertiary training in the country.
He added that SINU is prepared to absorb the large number of scholars studying in overseas institutions
“Increasing SIG Investment in SINU could save millions of dollars in public funds and foreign exchange loss. Investment in SINU should also demonstrate to other development partners SIG seriousness investing in SINU.
Today is a special day, very often dreams do not come true but today it have come true.
In order for SINU to effectively deliver its core business, it needed a larger building.
“It is our hope for our students to be able to appreciate, maximize and capitalize the use of the complex,’’ Fanega concluded.
