Call to Obey COVID Measures In Place

FORMER Honiara City Clerk, Rence Sore has called on the public to follow COVID-19 measures put in place by Health Authority.

“Public should respect the decision of the Executive Government of Solomon Islands for the four days lockdown.

He told Sunday Isles News that people must stay safe at home, restrict movement to matters of essentials in case of emergency.

At the same time he also appeal to responsible authorities to visit people at their homes of residence during the lockdown and provide essential supplies of food.

He further stated that authorities must not only patrol the main city street but must also patrol the inner city roads.

Meanwhile, a concern person who wish to be known only by his initial name G.S stressed that though health authorities are encouraging us to follow the instructions, a Gap is still missing.

“We suppose to follow measures imposed by the government through the COVID oversight committee and the Health Ministry but since the COVID outbreak I saw that people are not following the rules, for example the social distancing.

“This is evident in public transport such as buses , taxi and even at the very essential services such as banks, certain shops, markets etc…

“There are no social distancing as ordered by the Prime Minister through his nationwide addresses. People needs to take the COVID situation serious because this type of attitudes can cost lives,” the concern person who want to be known only as DS said.

In the meantime the Honiara City Council City Mayor, Eddie Sicalledhas also call on Honiara residents to comply with orders given by the Prime minister under the state of Public Emergency.

Speaking through a statement, Mr. Siapu said the orders are clear and there is no need for officers to continuously remind people to comply.

He made the call to business and residential houses at large.

It is understood the virus type remains unknown and is pending tests from Australia.
