Former Top Government Officers to Contest Ulawa/Ugi Seat

TWO former top government officers will be among the nine candidates who will be contesting the Ulawa/Ugi constituency seat on April 17, 2024.

The two are former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID), Mr. Steven Maesiola, and Mr. George Titiulu, who is the former Director of Environmental Health.

The former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Mr. Steven Maesiola, will be running under the Solomon Islands People’s First Party, while the former Environmental Health Director, George Titiulu, is running under the Solomon Islands Democratic Party and is looking forward to launching his campaign program on March 21 at Aroaha village on Ulawa Island.

Steven Maesiola officially launched his campaign program on Ugi Island at Hakanipua village on Sunday and is now doing his campaigns around Ugi Island.

Meanwhile, former Anglican Church of Melanesia Arch Bishop, Reverend George Takeli, is also making his comeback in the political battle under the People’s Alliance Party (PAP) for the vacant seat of Ulawa Ugi constituency in the National Parliament after sitting on the second spot with 476 votes in the 2019 National General Elections.

Ulawa/Ugi constituency has nine confirmed candidates that will be contesting this year’s National General Elections and has a total of 4,564 registered voters, of whom 51.3% are males and 48.7% are females, who will be casting their votes in the upcoming synchronized elections.
