For years, the villagers of Gwaonaoa in Malaita Province have independently raised pigs, selling them to nearby communities and even as far as Honiara. Now, with support from the SIART Project, these farmers have formalized their operations under the Arise Rural Farm Community Company Limited.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Solomon Islands in partnership with the World Bank, aims to transform local farming into sustainable businesses.
The SIART Project has provided crucial assistance, enabling the Gwaonaoa farmers to establish a more structured approach to their pig farming.
This includes providing resources and training to improve production and marketing strategies.
Anthony Aumae, the Chairperson of the Arise Rural Farm Community Company Limited, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the project’s role in helping them transition their farms into viable businesses.
This project is part of a larger effort, with 45 Agribusiness Producer Organizations in Malaita Province benefiting from grant agreements through SIART
