Inmate Derol Havimana Released on Parole

Rove Central Correctional Centre Commandant Cecil Nokia presented the Parolee Certificate to inmate Derol Havimana.

Rove Central Correctional Centre (RCCC) Commandant Mr. Cecil Nokia has formally announced the release of inmate Derol Havimana, following the decision made by the Parole Board during its meeting on 19th December 2024.

The parole was granted after Mr. Havimana fulfilled all the necessary requirements.

Inmate Derol Havimana acknowledge the CSSI leadership, Commandant and his Management, Ranks & Files, Brother & Sister Inmates for their support during his time in the Centre.

The decision was subsequently endorsed by the Honourable Minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS), Hon. Jimson Tanangada, upon receiving instruction from the Attorney General’s Chambers.

The official release program took place on Thursday, 26th June 2025, at the RCCC in Honiara, where Commandant Nokia delivered his formal remarks regarding Mr. Havimana’s release under the Parole Order.

In his address, Commandant Nokia urged the parolee to strictly comply with the conditions of his release, as stipulated by the Parole Board. These conditions are essential to ensuring a successful reintegration into the community and to maintaining public safety.

To mark the occasion, a message of encouragement was delivered by Chaplain Inspector Pr. John Tuafai at RCCC.

Pastor. Tuafai reminded Mr. Havimana that his release signifies not just a personal milestone but also a moment of national significance. “God has His own purpose for you. Your release today is a part of His plan. You are created by Him and have value. You are an asset to help build the future of our beloved Solomon Islands,” he said.

Meanwhile, Commandant Nokia expressed gratitude to the representatives of Supporting Work in Ministry (SWIM) for their continued support of inmate reintegration and rehabilitation efforts at RCCC.
