The Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) is making strong moves to grow and become more connected with the world.

Speaking at the opening of the ISIA Annual Congress 2025 at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara, ISIA President Mr. Johnson Lobo said the institute is working hard to become a modern and effective body for accountants.

“We want to become a smart and innovative institute that helps our country’s economy grow in a strong and sustainable way,” Mr. Lobo said.

He explained that ISIA has taken three big steps to improve and modernize.

First, they are expanding professional development for members. This means more training, both online and in person, so accountants can learn more and stay up to date.

“We are making sure our members have better access to education and learning, not just in Solomon Islands but around the world,” he said.

Second, ISIA is working to raise ethical standards for accountants in the country.

“We are teaching our members to follow strong values through special education programs every year,” Mr. Lobo explained.

Third, ISIA is encouraging the government and businesses to include international rules and ethical standards in their daily work and policies.

“We want everyone to follow the right standards, and we are also making sure that members who do not follow them are held responsible,” he said.

Mr. Lobo said the institute is also building stronger ties with international accounting bodies to offer more services and benefits to its members.

“These relationships will help us give better support to our members in 2025 and beyond,” he said.

He said that the results of these efforts will be shared with ISIA members, and he hopes everyone will take part in this journey of growth.

“We want our members, and all Solomon Islanders, to support the changes happening around the world and help make our communities stronger,” Mr. Lobo said.
