Youth coordinator Jessy Nick Saihana pointed out that the festival aims to engage young people of the community to realize their potential and put them to good use.

“This program is first of its kind, especially for Malango youths, we planned it last year to organise it this year.” He said.

The theme of the event is “Recognizing God’s Given Talents”, where youths out of their natural creativity produce something and displayed them for sale at the festival, like handiworks, furniture, cooking and baking and others.

Youth groups from the local churches in the area involved in selling products at the festival also registered for the event, according to the Youth Coordinator, Mr Saihana.

Youth music groups also put on live performances as part of the two days festival.

Invited Island boys from Kena Hill Honiara, presenting a dance item.

The event is organized for the SSEC Church Youth Groups of the Malango Association.

Meanwhile, outspoken Youth Leader and Elder Julias Baeri said that the festival helped young people of Malango who were involved in the event to gain more ideas on what they need to produce as well as make improvements.

“This is the first time, I think the executive will look at ways to improve it, maybe they will look at the sessions with invited speakers like on education which is an important topic. He pointed out.  “Improvement will come later.”

“So I see this youth festival will get us to another step in improving our talents,” He said.
