The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade through its Labour Mobility Unit (LMU) has received more than 1,100 applicants on the first day of online/email submissions for its Work Ready Pool recruitment drive yesterday.
With the high number of applicants received, the Ministry is pleased that the current modes of submission have received overwhelming response as evident by the high level of interest received to date.
However, the LMU has noted a number of technical issues that needs public attention.
Among them is the use of ZIP folders to compress files which are then sent as email attachments. As the email address used for submission is hosted on the Solomon Islands government email network, ZIP folders can be automatically deleted by the network anti-virus systems, hence they would not be received by the LMU office.
Therefore, it is advisable that email submissions contain separate files (word, PDF, JPEG, PNG) and not be compressed into a single file. Those who have submitted ZIP folder attachments are asked to resend their documents as separate files.
Also, when using the email to send submission, the correct address is lmapplications@mfaet.gov.sb. Through advice from the Ministry of Finance and Treasury’s ICT department, as much as 800 submissions were sent to a non-existent address that has the letter ‘i’’ in front instead of ‘l’ (small L).
So, applicants who have used ‘i’ as the first letter in the email address are also asked to resend another email with the correct letter (l) in front of the email address.
Those wishing to send submissions through the online link can do so by accessing this link: https://solomons.pacificlabour.org/register.
On online submissions, the public is further advised when submitting required documents to only fill up the expiry date if they are attaching their passport bio-data page and to leave that section out for other requirements.
MFAET would also like to inform the public that email submissions should not be sent to MFAET officers including those in the LMU but to the address provided.
The Ministry therefore commended those who have already sent in their applications through the online/email modes and is encouraging those still interested to apply before the due date (10th March 2023).
