WILLIE Bradford Marau, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ulawa/Ugi Constituency, successfully launched his campaigning program on Tuesday, April 2, at Mwajoa, his home village on Ulawa Island.
On Wednesday, April 3, he began his series of election rallies on Ulawa Island.
Willie Bradford Marau, who is contesting the Ulawa/Ugi Parliament seat under the Sogavare-led OUR party, in his campaigns explains to constituents on Ulawa the reasons his people didn’t see much during his second term and takes his time to inform them of the visions and programs he has for his constituency if he successfully regains the Ulawa/Ugi parliamentary seat for the third term.
Marau revealed that many of the constituency programs were not implemented as expected due to delays in grants and cash flow from the national government.
“We have encountered a lot of difficulties from 2019 up until last year, and from these situations, many of the constituency programs were affected due to the delay in releasing funds for constituencies, and this really affects our constituency,” the former MP said.
In his campaigning at Su’u Moli village, the former MP received praise from different communities inside North Ulawa for his team’s assistance in terms of infrastructure development under the Ulawa/Ugi constituency Housing Scheme program, which assists churches, schools, and individuals with school fee assistance support, which has a great impact on communities and other areas, as well as from community leaders.
Mr. Marau and his team will leave for Ugi to conclude their campaigns after they complete Ulawa any time next week.
Willie Bradford Marau first came into politics in the 2014 National General Elections after ousting the former Member of Parliament for Ulawa/Ugi constituency, James Tora.
He was re-elected in the 2019 National General Elections and is seeking his third term in Parliament in this year’s joint election in the country.
