HONIARA, Solomon Islands – The Price Advisory Committee [PAC] of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour has advised the next fuel price adjustment will come into effect on 1 May 2026. This increase was foreshadowed in the Government’s Press Release on 22nd April 2026 and further highlighted in the Prime Ministers Press Conference on 28 April 2026.
The PAC’s fuel price smoothing strategy will result in two fuel price adjustments in the month of May 2026, to ensure the magnitude of each price change is not too large – the first from 1st of May and the second in the second half of the month.
The new fuel prices which have now incorporated the fiscal measures approved by the government to take effect from 1st May 2026 are as follows.
| Petroleum Products | Wholesale [Maximum price in S.I. cents per litre] | Retail [Maximum price in S.I. cents per litre] |
| Petroleum Motor Spirits (PMS) | 957.79 | 1,104.63 |
| Distillate (ADO) | 1,314.01 | 1,487.56 |
| Kerosene (KERO) | 1,297.58 | Kerosene sells direct from the pumps at service stations and maximum retail price is 1,673.87 per litre. |
If the government fiscal measures had not been incorporated, the 1st May prices would have been as per the following table.
| Petroleum Products | Wholesale [Maximum price in S.I. cents per litre] | Retail [Maximum price in S.I. cents per litre] | Approximate savings per litre following govt interventions |
| Petroleum Motor Spirits (PMS) | 1,170.28 | 1,245.28 | $1.41 / litre |
| Distillate (ADO) | 1,579.94 | 1,654.94 | $1.67 / litre |
| Kerosene (KERO) | 1,525.74 | Kerosene sells direct from the pumps at service stations and maximum retail price is 1,830.89 per litre. | $1.57 / litre |
The government will continue to monitor the prices and provide updates on our fuel and energy security situation together with measures we can all take to increase discipline in saving energy across government and the country.
Consumers in Honiara are reminded that maximum retail prices in Honiara are legally fixed until they are changed in the next adjustment.
Consumers in provinces are informed the government hopes to put in place a pricing mechanism for maximum prices by zones of constituencies as soon as possible.
