There is a possibility for another lockdown for Central Islands Province (CIP) should there be an increase in positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.
The province registered an additional nine positive Covid-19 cases bringing the current total of positive cases in CIP to 26.
CIP’s Premier Hon Stanley Manetiva reminds his people that the control of movement within the province is very important at this point in time, which is where the COVID-19 transmission can be very high.
With the current situation in the province, Mr. Manetiva calls for his citizens to continue applying Covid-19 restrictions within their communities.
“On food supply for our people, the Provincial Disaster Operating Centre [PDOC] is handling this situation as there have been many concerns raised on this issue within our province. It is a top priority,” said Manetiva.
Meanwhile, CIP’s four days lockdown was lifted yesterday evening, Sunday, at 6:00 pm on which many residents at Tulaghi with its surrounding communities were seen standing in queue to purchase goods for their families from canteens.
Assisting the local residents is the Provincial Emergency Response Team (PERT).
While food supply remains a challenge for CIP throughout the current Covid-19 restrictions in the country, CIP’s PDOC team with the assistance of OBM owners are trying their best to transport cargo supply to the provincial capital to assist citizens.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for CIP Superintendent David Soakai at this present also calls to all communities in the province to work and help each other so that they can fight together against the virus (Covid-19).
This is also to prepare their families as they all know that Covid-19 is now amongst them.
