THE accomplished renovation work of the Rove Children’s Park and replacement of old floorings at the National Referral Hospital’s physiotherapy and mental health wards signifies the true testament of U.S. Navy Seabees in Honiara.
Pacific Partnership 2022, Engineer Sail-in Officer in Charge of the U.S. Navy Seabees, Amphibious Construction Battalion One, Lieutenant Jacob Lemmelin told Sunday Isles that his team has achieved its intentions and objectives in Honiara.
He said they are pleased to have accomplished two important engineering projects that will benefit the community of Honiara in the Solomon Islands.
“We were able to do quite a good thing for the Honiara community in the country.
“The first thing that we were able to execute in Honiara is the renovation of the local children’s playground – which to my understanding is the only public playground in the Solomon Islands capital, Honiara.
“The renovation work done was very well received and we are very happy to be able to provide that to your beautiful community of Honiara.
“The other thing we were able to execute here was the execution of the replacement of the floors at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) for the physiotherapy and mental health annex.
“Our engineering team was able to provide physical replacements on the floor; where you can jump through it literally – So yeah! I am really happy with the work execution here and what we can accomplish,” Lieutenant Jacob said.
He said his team is pleased to experience the warm hospitality provided by the community in Honiara and more especially to have accomplished such important tasks that will benefit the people in the City.
“First up, the people of Honiara are just so sweet and I am so thankful that we are here.
“There is no place, I will rather be to help the community here.
“I think that it is great that the kids will have somewhere to play and you know at the hospital, the locals will not be falling onto the floors, so I think between all of that it’s a value-added and I am really glad we stopped here.
“Thank you for welcoming us to your country – which is a beautiful place. I hope the Pacific Partnership can come here again,” Lieutenant Jacob said.
