RSIPF Officers Undergo Training Conducted by PRC in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Rove Police Headquarters have undergo POM Training conducted by the instructors of China Police Liaison Team in Rove Headquarters started on 7 to 11 June 2022.

“The security challenges are evolving and still out there threatening this nation and therefore RSIPF must be well prepared to tackle these threats. That is why these trainings are critical and must be delivered to reach all RSIPF officers in Honiara and the provinces,” said the Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) Mr. Ian Vaevaso during the Opening Ceremony of this training.

Executives of RSIPF, the executives and instructors of China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) led by Commissioner Mr. Zhang Guangbao also attended the ceremony.

This POM training is customized for PHQ officers, all the skills included are modified to make sure they are more relevant to the officers’ daily work and easier to be mastered, such as basic equipment handling skills, basic survive skills, self-defence and counterattack, posture and movement, etc.

Mr. Vaevaso said in his opening speech that until today, China Police Liaison Team has completed about five groups of POM training and two sets of CP training.

“I am greatly delighted that these training programs are very professional, relevance and effective. I highly commended Commissioner, Mr. Zhang and his professional team of experts for their outstanding coordination and collaboration with the RSIPF since their arrival in the country.

“I have no doubt with strong commitment and genuine support of China Police Liaison Team, RSIPF has already progress improving its capacity and capability over the last six (6) months that obviously promoted community safety and security of Solomon Islands, including the recent Parliament and State Visit by PRC State Councillor very recently.”

DC Vaevaso encourages the training participants to make use of this opportunity to learn from our partners and learn as much as possible.

“With this training, I believe it will put you in a better position to be able to provide better support and response when any public order situation arises. Please engage and interact with your instructors and learn from each other during this training.”

Team Leader of CPLT Commissioner Mr. Zhang Guangbao said in his speech that Rove HQ police officers are experts in different fields.

“You have attended a lot of training program and had a good foundation. But my team are professional, practical and special, hope we can have a good exchange. After the training, you will become much familiar with equipment utilize it effectively and may support the frontline officers at any time,” Team Leader of CPLT Commissioner Mr. Zhang Guangbao said.

The Team Leader of CPLT said that in the coming days, China Police Liaison Team will uphold the spirit of “transparency, inclusiveness, professionalism, high-efficiency” for the purpose of friendship and goodwill, support RSIPF to become the best police force in the region, maintain peace and security in Solomon Islands and make our country truly safe, peaceful and a happy isles.
