The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has welcomed 69 new police officers, following a formal graduation ceremony at Rove Police Headquarters.
The Cohort includes 48 men and 21 women, all selected from across the nation’s nine province.
These newly graduates successfully completed a rigorous 20-weeks training course at the RSIPF Police Academy, focused on foundational law enforcement skills, professional ethics and community engagement.

Speaking at the ceremony, Supervising Assistant Commissioner Corporate Support Mr. Stanley Riolo, hailed the graduates’ achievements as a testament to their perseverance and commitment to public service.
“This is more than a ceremony; it is a powerful tribute to the dedication, discipline, and determination of these recruits,” Mr. Riolo said.
Mr. Stanley Riolo says, “They now begin the next phase of their careers as probationary constables, charged with upholding the laws of our nation.”
These new constables will be working various stations performing duties that include crime investigation, traffic management, patrol services and community policing playing a vital role in ensuring safety and security across the Solomon Islands.
Riolo emphasized the importance of personal integrity and public trust, reminding officers to uphold the RSIPF values: integrity, discipline and professionalism. He acknowledges “wantokism” as potential challenge to impartial policing, encourages the new probationary police constables to rise above such pressure and serve with fairness and courage.
“You are now part of a transforming RSIPF an institution embracing professional standards and continuous development,” he added.
Underscoring the importance of the occasion, the Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Service, Hon. Jimson Fiau Tanangada attended the graduation and conducted a formal inspection of the parade. He later addressed the newly sworn constables, urging them to approach their roles with humility and unwavering commitment.
“This event marks not just the end of your training journey but the beginning of a lifelong commitment to serve and protect our communities and our country,” he said.
Honourable Minister Tanangada underscores the strategic importance of RSIPF in addressing national threats including crime, illicit drugs, cybercrime, climate related challenges and foreign influence. He also referenced the government’s new National Security Strategy 2025-2028, designed to strengthening the police force capabilities and community trust.
“Serve with honesty. Respect the law and human rights. Do not misuse the power of your uniform or bring shame to the RSIPF. Let your service be defined by professionalism and integrity,” the Minister said.
The newly graduated officers will begin their two-year probation period at stations throughout the country.
As part of the proceedings, five outstanding recruits were awarded for their achievements in academic, integrity, leadership, physical fitness and the prestigious Baton of Honour.
