THE Ministry of Health and Medical Services conducted a Sanitation Artisan Training of Trainers at the RWASH warehouse in Ranadi, east Honiara.
According to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services press release statement, the Sanitation Artisan Training of Trainers (TOT) aims to equip trainers with skills and knowledge to train sanitation artisans in provinces, including understanding sanitation systems and maintenance.
“The training program ensures trainers provide consistent, high-quality training that adheres to industry standards and best practices, promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly sanitation practices for artisans.
“The training aims to enhance the number of qualified trainers, improve community health and hygiene, and expand the workforce in the Solomon Islands for improved sanitation,” the press release stated.
RWASH Program Manager Mr. Jack Filiomea emphasized the significant importance of their work during the training opening.
“Proper sanitation is a cornerstone of public health. By equipping trainers to educate artisans, they took a crucial step towards ensuring healthier and more sustainable communities. The training not only enhanced the technical capacities of the trainers but also inspired them to impart their skills to others, creating positive change,” Mr. Filiomea said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Filiomea encouraged all participants to actively participate, share their experiences, and learn from one another, as their dedication and passion were vital to the success of the National Sustainable Sanitation Programme and the improvement of sanitation standards in Solomon Islands communities.
