
SOLOMON Islands and Fiji strenthening Legal Cooperation through the signing of MOU yesterday.
Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs and Fiji Ministry of Justice have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding today Monday 17th February 2025 at Suvavou House in Suva, Fiji.
Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs Hon. Clezy Cleveland Rore signed on-behalf of Solomon Islands Government while his counterpart Hon. Siromi Turaga signed for the Fiji Government.
The signing of MOU marks a significant step towards strenthening legal cooperation and capacity building between the two countries.
The ceremony was witnessed and attended by senior government officials and representitives from both countries.
The MOU will establish a twinning program aimed to enhance collaboration in key areas in the Justice Sector that may create mutual benefits to both countries.
This is one of the GNUT government priorities under Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs which was also endorsed by the Fijian Cabinet to reaffirm the commitments between two countries on regional justice sector reform and cooperation.
Rore stated that with the funding support from Australian Government (DFAT) under the Australia-Solomon Islands Justice Program (ASIPJ) enables the successful signing of the MOU between Solomon Islands and Fiji.
The signing of the MOU marks the begining of a stronger legal partnership that will contribute to the advancement of justice governance and rule of law between the two countries and the Pacific.
