PRIME Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare MP had a courtesy call from Mr. Jiang Jiang, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), according to a press statement from OPMC.

The Peoples Republic of China (PRC) government-supported friendship association carries out all-directional, multi-level, and wide areas of humanity while implementing China’s autonomous foreign policy of peace and adhering to the values of peaceful coexistence.

Yesterday’s engagement focused on people-to-people diplomacy, international collaboration, preserving bilateral and global peace, and the promotion of common developments in keeping with the CPAFFC’s goal.

The agenda of friendship-city relations between China and the Solomon Islands was one of the topics that Prime Minister Sogavare and CPAFFC Vice President Jiang discussed during their meeting. This was done to encourage active participation in the exchange of activities between the provinces of the Solomon Islands and sister cities in China for a deeper understanding of cultures and other interpersonal interactions.

The topic includes the cause of preserving peace and common security as well as how to aid people in their efforts to advance social progress, national development, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The PRC-SI relationship must be continually strengthened, according to Prime Minister Sogavare. The goal of CPAFFC is the foundation upon which the Solomon Islands Sustainable Development Goals are accelerated.

The Solomon Islands respect China’s philosophy of “leaving no one behind, size does not matter, and no friend is too small.”

Also welcomed is the visa-free agreement between the PRC and SI.

PM Sogavare vowed, “Rest assured, we’ll rise to support China’s great initiative.”
