STUDENTS between the age of 12 and 18 years old have been urged to get the Pfizer Vaccine when the school term starts, a week from now.

Ministry Of Education Permanent Secretary, Dr. Franco Rodie made the call during the COVID-19 Talkback Show on Sunday.

Dr. Rodie said he was encouraged to see few parents taking their children to vaccination centers during the past weeks and months.

“I commend the parents and encourage those who have not taken their children to get the Pfizer Vaccine dose to do so now,” he said.

He further added that parents must accompany their children to the vaccination center to give their consent and sign the form before the child can be Vaccinated.

“I hope when vaccination centers are set up for schools in and around Honiara City – many children of the age group will go get their Vaccine doses,” Dr. Rodie said.

The Education Ministry Permanent Secretary in the meantime also appeals to school teachers who have not taken their Vaccine doses to go get theirs immediately.

The official school academic year will begin on 24 January 2022, a week from now.
