THREE prominent media leaders from the Solomon Islands have successfully completed a two-week General Manager Program (AGSM) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia.
The program, part of the 4th Cohort focus on media leadership and management development, was supported by the Australian High Commission Office in Honiara and the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI).
It aims to provide media professionals with the opportunity to enhance their leadership capabilities and add value to their roles in the industry.
Among the participants were Robert Iroga, founder and owner of SBM ONLINE, Georgina Kekea, founder and owner of Tavuli News, and Lynda Rose Wate Seni, founder and owner of Sunday Isles.
The AGSM General Manager Program has a long-standing reputation for equipping leaders with essential skills to drive organizational performance.

Through this program, participants gained functional knowledge, strategic insight, and confidence to tackle modern leadership challenges while aligning their leadership styles with organizational goals.
For over 30 years, the AGSM General Manager Program has been instrumental in fostering executive techniques, strengthening leadership confidence, and facilitating professional networks.
Samuel Cox, Second Secretary for Strategic Communications and Public Diplomacy at the Australian High Commission in Honiara, highlighted the significance of the program.
“This training helps leaders develop new capabilities, techniques, and executive practices, allowing them to lead their business units with confidence, adapt to disruptions, and expand their professional networks,” he stated.
Lynda Rose Wate Seni, Publisher and Director of Sunday Isles, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity.
“I’m so grateful to the Australian Government and the Australian High Commission in Honiara for this training.
“Everything we learned and discussed is equally important for my leadership growth. The course was intensive, but it pushed me to connect my own dots, face my fears, step out of my comfort zone, learn new approaches, strategies, and negotiation skills, and embrace change guided by strong principles, practices, and culture”.
The AGSM team also praised the participants for their dedication and engagement throughout the program.
“Thank you for your participation in the General Manager Program. We hope you enjoyed your experience and will continue your learning journey with us,” they said.
Upon completion of the program, the three media leaders were awarded an AGSM Certificate in Executive Management and Development (CEMD), a testament to their successful training.
Their accomplishment highlights the growing influence of the Solomon Islands’ media sector and the dedication of its leaders to ongoing professional development.
With enhanced leadership skills and strategic insights, they are well-positioned to drive positive change within their respective organizations and the broader media landscape in the Solomon Islands.
