Wards In Malaita Province Gears up For Second Appointed Day Celebrations

PEOPLE Of Ward 24 in West Are ‘are Constituency will celebrate the province’s 38th second appointed day at Uhu village in West Are ‘are Malaita province.

The Malaita 38th second appointed day will fall on Monday 16 August 2021.

This year the Malaita provincial government allocate $660,000.00 for each of its 33 ward to mark the special occasion at their various wards.

Each wards is expected to received around $20, 000 for the event.

In an exclusive interview with Sunday Isles News, the West Are ‘are Ward 24 Provincial Member, Peter Clay Taraumae confirmed that Ward 24 have started preparation this week and every preparations should be completed by Thursday next week.

Speaking from Auki, Malaita Province, Hon. Taraumae said the ward 24 organising committee had meet on Monday and confirmed the preparation for the events.

“The Organising committee meet on Monday 2 August and confirm the preparations starting this week until Thursday next week,’’ he said.

He added that the main event will be officiated on Monday 16 August. Arrival time for guests will be at 6am followed by a parade at 9am on Monday 16 August..

Hon. Taraumae further said that Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th August is assigned for sports days and all participating teams should arrived at host venue-Uhu in the evening of Friday 13th August 2021.

“The two identified sports are futsal for under 14 boys and netball for under 15 girls. Registration fees is $150 which will also go towards prize awards,’’ said the Hon. Member.

In terms of transportation arrangements, the organising committee had allocated its main station or villages with outboard motor engine for guests and those who will attend the 38th provincial day.
