WITH the motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister withdrawn, the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) will now focus on passing the Constitution (Amendment) (Constituent Assembly Sitting) Bill 2024.

It is an amendment bill that proposes an extended timeframe to allow for the establishment of the Constituent Assembly. The Assembly is scheduled to have its first sitting on the 26th of December 2024.

It comprises leaders of various backgrounds who are charged with scrutinizing the draft State Federal Constitution.

The Constituent Assembly should have been established, but administrative setbacks prevented its progress.

The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) is firmly committed to passing the amendment this week.

Another important item of business in parliament will be the motion of sine die. The Prime Minister, the Honorable Jeremiah Manele, MP, will move the motion to enable Members of Parliament to discuss issues they deem important.

The passing of the 2025 budget last week is important, as it is the first budget for the GNUT since coming into power in May this year.

The budget reflects the government’s policy priorities and, most importantly, its development agenda.

GNUT is committed to providing political stability and ensuring the implementation of its transformative projects for the good of the country. No external pressures or propaganda would sway its determination to continue advancing the nation’s development agenda.
