WESTERN PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT lost a lot of revenue due to not being able to collect all of its property rates, Premier Christian Mesepitu said.

“Based on last Financial Year 2021/2022 actual budget report, generally Western Provincial Government lost a huge number of its revenue on Property Rates.” Premier Mesepitu stated when queried via email.

WPG cannot fully collect its revenues on property rates.

According to reports from the lands division and Treasury, most collections were done in industrial and business sectors.

Those with residential sectors are not complying to pay their dues and this had already accumulated their arrears to the government.

“Please you can check with our DPS for specifics in this matter,” Premier Mesepitu advised.

In general, the current Western government is prioritising its revenue strategies on how best they will improve from the previous year’s performance.

“There is still a need to improve our revenue collections in the province,” Hon Mesepitu revealed.

“We need everyone to work together to improve our province’s financial capacity.

“All government own lands are governments assets and through proper developments and genuine investment policies and plan will generate and increase revenues for the government. Government properties are not for freelance,” The Western Province Premier said.
