SINAMAURI Clinic in the rural West Kwaio region in Malaita province is facing serious obstacles when accessing medicine supplies and other medications.
Reports received by Sunday Isles have confirmed insufficient medicines to meet the overwhelming demand from the rural populace in Ward 28, West Kwaio’s Constituency.
For Sinamauri Clinic, medicine supplies are in short supply. The Ward has the biggest population in West Kwaio and its people are mainly subsistence farmers.
“The clinic relies on the national and provincial government subsidies for medications. Medicines supplies are in fact in short supply.
“This has caused excessive burdens at this local clinic.
“The only source of medicine supplies comes from the pharmacy department at Kilu’ufi, the Provincial Hospital in Auki, Malaita’s provincial capital,” the registered nurse in charge of Sinamauri Clinic, Marx Oloisae told Sunday Isles.
He later encouraged everyone within Ward 28 to look after their health by staying healthy.
“Each one has the responsibility to keep themselves fit and healthy until this situation is resolved, especially as we experience increase cases of flu and malaria in our communities at this time.”
With the current dilemma, Anna Koika, a mother from Finabola village said that the sick populace who lived within the clinic’s catchment and non-catchment areas are in confusion and we demand answers from the national and provincial governments.
“The medicine and other essentials meant to support Sinamauri Clinic, are told it is unavailable,” she said.
