THE Don Bosco Technical Institute has received a donation of essential training equipment and tools from Australia, providing a boost to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
The donation, which includes laptops, desks and essential tools to enhance the institute’s learning facilities, will equipping young Solomon Islanders with the skills they need to find jobs and advance the economic development of Solomon Islands.
The resources will help create an engaging and efficient learning experience for students at Don Bosco and help trainers to incorporate digital tools into their teaching methods.
They will also facilitate students’ access to digital resources, support multimedia learning, and improve collaboration and communication among students.
Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Rod Hilton said the provision of the education tools would enrich the learning experience and outcomes for students as part of Australia’s ongoing commitment to strengthen TVET across all provinces in Solomon Islands.
“This contribution aligns with our shared goal of supporting education and skills development in Solomon Islands, to equip students with work-ready skills so they can pursue meaningful careers.”
Rector, Don Bosco Technical Institute, Fr Rafael Galve said the institute was thrilled about the support from the Australian Government to provide cutting-edge education to its students.
“The equipment will be integrated into various programs focused on computer literacy, communication technology, and vocational training.”
Australia’s support to Rural Training Centres such as Don Bosco has been a long-standing commitment under the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), dedicated to providing practical training and quality educational support to youth in Solomon Islands.
Australia is committed to supporting quality vocational education and training across Solomon Islands, with a strong focus on skills development under the Solomon Islands-Australia partnership.
