MAKING a special statement in Tulaghi on Wednesday to mark this year’s Central Islands Province 41st Second Appointed Day, Former Premier of the Central Islands Province Stanley Manetiva acknowledged the present tangible developments achieved by the government and people of the province.
Honorable Stanley noted that the time is right as evidence of developments is on Central islands shores and concrete evidence is the funding of the Tulagi tourism, the light industries, sealed road around Tulagi.
“One of these developments is Solomon Islands government-funded new domestic wharf and the amenities that are underway in Tulagi and expected to be commissioned in September and this is a welcoming news indeed,” he added.
He later acknowledged the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) government for stimulating the progress towards the projects on rural electrification.
“I thank aid donors and their implementation partners through the Ministry of Mines, Energy Sector, for funding the hydro study and data collections for the proposed growth centers at Hatama, Maleali, Binusa, and Mui on Pawuhui in Central province,” the former Premier said.
He also reiterated his sincere thanks to partners like Churches, NGOs, the Environmental Conscience Action Network of Solomon Islands, World vision, and Kastom garden.
“I would like to say here that you have contributed to the people’s livelihood, security, and disaster resilience.
“To the state own enterprise Solomon Power, Solomon Water, Our Telekom, Solomon post, thank you for the services I owe you so much,’’ he said.
“To the teachers, and leaders in Education, thank you for your wonderful service to our good children and human resources development in Central province.
“To our health workers continue with your good work because the baseline is that ‘healthy people is the healthy province’, a nation hence that could mean more time than invested in productive and social sectors,’’ he said.
“At this too I wish to acknowledge the passing on of our senior central islanders since the last 40 anniversary,’’ he recalled.
He later described the 41st Second Appointed Day theme – ‘Unity for Sustainable Development as a reminder about the way forward to develop the Central Islands province.
“It is my Government’s policy for land and resource owners to be recognized and engage in social-economic development as active partners.
“On this junction maybe this is my last speech as a Premier if it is so, it is right I thank all of you and call for a sincere reconciliation by leaders for us to focus on our people and their developments.”
