CHIEF Electoral Officer (CEO) Jasper Highwood Anisi of the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) extends his gratitude to all electoral officials, donors, development partners, and Solomon Islanders.
The CEO acknowledged this during a press conference held yesterday at the Mendana Hotel in Honiara.
“As the count draws to a close, I want to express my gratitude to the more than 6000 electoral officials who helped us ensure a seamless election day,” Anisi said.
He said that they had worked nonstop to make sure they were carrying out their responsibilities honorably and that they also made an effort to be accurate.
He later acknowledged the efforts committed during the 2024 joint elections by the media, other partners, women and youth, civil society teams, and groups representing people with disabilities in the country.
Anisi thanked the regional donors and development partners particularly Australia Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australian Defence Force, New Zealand Government and the NZ Defence Force for their support to help with the logistics in moving all electoral materials to and from the provinces.
He expressed his acknowledgment to development partners for their financial support in ensuring the integrity and security of election materials and voter safety.
The CEO also expressed gratitude to all the voters in throughout the country for their cooperation in maintaining peace and calmness throughout the country.
