The 2025 National Trade Fair has been officially launched, with Chairman Moses Waririu calling it “a beacon of progress, innovation and opportunity” for the Solomon Islands.

2025 National Trade Fair Committee Chairman Waririu said the National Trade Fair (NTF) aligns with the Government’s national development strategy, aiming to boost inclusive economic growth and modernize key sectors.

“Let us all work together to revive and expand our productive sector, particularly in agriculture, fisheries, tourism and local manufacturing,” he urged.

The Trade Fair, now a major national event, brings together small business owners, farmers, youth, women entrepreneurs and industry leaders from across the country. It serves not just as a marketplace, but a platform for innovation and learning.

“This National Trade Fair serves as a firm reaffirmation of our government’s commitment to rebuilding resilient local industries, investing in downstream processing and moving beyond the outdated model of exporting raw materials,” Mr. Waririu explained.

He stressed the importance of adding value to local products and building a brand for Solomon Islanders on the global stage.

“The future lies in producing, branding and exporting value-added Solomon Island products by Solomon Islanders for the world,” he said.

The chairman praised the growing role of women and youth in the business scene.

“Your creativity, resilience and energy are leading a new wave of inclusive and sustainable development,” he said.

He also acknowledged international partners for their support through technical assistance, training and investment.

“Your collaborations help open doors for our most remote communities.

“Together, let us drive this transformation, rebuild a happy house, and move our country forward,” Waririu added.
