Wayne Frederick Morris, a prominent figure in the Solomon Islands accounting community, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement in Accounting Award by the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA).
This prestigious award celebrates Wayne’s nearly six decades of unwavering commitment to the profession, marked by excellence, leadership, and a profound dedication to public service. As he receives this lifetime honour, Wayne Morris leaves behind not just a professional legacy, but a lasting impact on people, policies, and institutions across the Solomon Islands.
“Few individuals have given as much to the profession and our nation as Wayne Morris,” ISIA said during the award ceremony. “His legacy is one of mentorship, reform, and integrity.”

Wayne’s career began in 1966 as a trainee accountant. Over the years, he rose through the ranks to become a Partner at Coopers & Lybrand in London before relocating to the Solomon Islands, where he led the firm’s Honiara office in 1988.
In 2008, he co-founded Morris & Sojnocki, a firm that has since become synonymous with high standards in auditing, taxation, and financial advisory. Through the firm, Wayne has mentored a generation of Solomon Islands accountants, many of whom now hold senior roles across the country.
But his impact goes far beyond the office.
Wayne played a central role in shaping national financial and legal reforms, serving on the Business Law Reform Committee, Companies Act Review, and Tax Review Committee. His technical knowledge and principled leadership have helped strengthen legal and institutional frameworks critical to the Solomon Islands’ economic development.

His contributions to public life have also been recognised through his long-standing involvement in Rotary International, extensive charitable work, and the conferral of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2010 for services to business and the community.
“What sets Wayne apart is not just his expertise, but his humility and his heart for service,” according to ISIA at the ceremony. “He has lifted others up, always putting integrity and the nation’s interest first.”
