The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACoM), the Most Reverend Leonard Dawea is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Adrian Toni as the new General Secretary of ACoM, after the formal signing on Monday morning.
A brief yet significant ceremony took place at the office of the Archbishop at the Anglican Church of Melanesia Provincial Headquarters in Honiara, presided over by the Archbishop. The occasion was witnessed by the outgoing General Secretary, Canon Dr. Abraham Hauriasi, together with the ACoM Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Peter Pitia.
Mr. Adrian Toni of Isabel has been appointed to succeed Canon Dr. Abraham Hauriasi, who will formally hand over the role on March 1, 2026. Mr. Toni brings with him strong academic credentials, holding a Master’s Degree in Environmental Economics from Kobe University in Japan.
Mr. Toni is currently serving as the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for the Integrated Economic Development Community Resilience Project within the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening. From 2016 to 2023, he held the position of Provincial Capacity Development Advisor for Central Province under the same Ministry. Prior to that, between 2010 and 2016, he served as Provincial Secretary in both Ysabel and Western Provinces.
Although newly appointed to his current role, Mr. Toni is deeply familiar with the Anglican Church of Melanesia. Since 2020, he has played an active part in advancing the mission and life of the Church through dedicated service on various ACoM boards and committees. He also brings a wealth of expertise from his extensive career in senior administration and management across both national and provincial government sectors.
Mr. Toni will take up the role of General Secretary designate on 1 March 2026 to oversee the transition and handover process. He will officially succeed Canon Dr. Abraham Hauriasi on 1 July 2026, following Dr. Hauriasi’s completion of more than 14 years of distinguished service to the Church. By beginning his duties in March, Mr. Toni will ensure continuity and a smooth transfer of leadership within the Church’s administration.
As the Church seeks to strengthen the leadership of its administration team, the ACoM is also pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Frank Seka as its new Chief Financial officer.
Mr. Seka will commence his appointment as from 5th January 2026.
On behalf of the Archbishop, the Council of Bishops, and the members of the Anglican Church of Melanesia in both Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, the Church warmly welcomes the appointment of Mr. Adrian Toni and Mr. Frank Seka to the senior leadership team of the Provincial Office.
The signing marks an important milestone for the Anglican Church of Melanesia as it looks ahead with thanksgiving for past service and confidence in its future leadership.
