At the Solomon Islands National University’s (SINU) April 2026 Graduation Ceremony, Vice Chancellor Professor Transform Aqorau urged graduates to take forward four essential values: responsibility, integrity, leadership, and lifelong learning.
“The qualifications you hold today are not just yours alone,” Professor Aqorau told the graduates. “They represent the investment of your families, communities, sponsors, and the country. Use your knowledge and skills with honesty, humility, and good judgment.”
He also took a moment to acknowledge the many people who supported the graduates throughout their journey. “In our islands, the wantok spirit reminds us that no one succeeds alone—every achievement is carried by many hands,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted the challenges the graduates will face in an uncertain world, where economic instability, climate change, unemployment, and rapid technological advances are ever-present. Yet, he stressed that education is more important than ever.
“We need wise nurses, ethical business leaders, dedicated teachers, resilient farmers, and thoughtful public servants—citizens whose minds are steady and hearts open,” Professor Aqorau said.
He encouraged the graduates not just to inherit the future, but to shape it through service, innovation, professionalism, and commitment to their communities and nation.
In his closing remarks, Professor Aqorau expressed deep appreciation for the Solomon Islands Government, SINU’s leadership, academic staff, and all those who supported the graduates, including families, mentors, and sponsors.
“To the graduating class of April 2026: congratulations. You have earned this day. Wear your achievement with gratitude, but also with purpose,” he said. “Let your knowledge serve people. Let your skills build communities. Let your character strengthen institutions. Let your leadership bring hope.”
