THE Solomon Islands Government Ministry of Communication and Aviation aims to complete seven provincial airport projects in the country by October this year.

Minister of Communication and Aviation Honourable Peter Shanel Agovaka made the confirmation at the official ceremony to mark the handing over of the new International Departure Terminal Building at the Honiara International Airport on March 15, 2023.

Honourable Peter Shanel said these ongoing airport projects include the construction and enhancement of Taro Airport, Sege Airport, Munda Airport, Lata Airport, Kirakira Airport, Rennell/Bellona Airport, and Balalai Airport.

“My Ministry is working very hard to ensure we provide to people and the country of Solomon Islands the vital Infrastructure Development in terms of connecting our people and allowing the public to travel safe and sound to their destinations.

“We will be delivering this year, and looking into the accomplishment of Airports in Taro, Sege, Munda, Lata, Kirakira, Renele Bellona, Balalai, and of course the Honiara International Airport that we have just witnessed.

“These are all on our plate to deliver this year 2023.

“Although time is short, things are already in its progressing stage,” the Minister of Communication and Aviation Honourable Peter Shanel Agovaka said.
