The newly upgraded Kilufi Hospital was officially handed over today during a ceremony attended by Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale, representatives of the Embassy of Japan, government officials from Honiara, hospital staff, and members of the Malaita community.

The event marked the completion of the Kilufi Hospital Improvement Project, one of the most significant recent healthcare infrastructure investments in the Solomon Islands. The redevelopment delivers modern facilities and upgraded medical equipment designed to strengthen healthcare services for communities across Malaita Province.

Funded by the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project underscores the longstanding partnership between Japan and the Solomon Islands in improving national health systems. Representatives from the Embassy of Japan joined the ceremony to commemorate the successful completion and official handover.

With its upgraded infrastructure, Kilufi Hospital is now better positioned to provide quality healthcare, enhance patient services, and meet the growing medical needs of Malaita’s population. The improvements are expected to support more efficient treatment, safer patient care, and expanded access to essential health services for years to come.
