THE Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) on Saturday 18 June held its 2022 media awards night at Cowboys Grill.

During the events, a total of 14 awards were presented to this year’s winners.

The Masi award 2022 honours and recognises journalists and media workers for their individual efforts in their work.

The journalists have been recognised for their significant contribution to the industry and the community that they saved.

Not only that, but the MASI Awards Night is held to recognise the journalists for their contribution and more significantly the professionalism they display through their work.

MASI as an advocate for good journalism and professionalism had pleased to host the event on Saturday to recognise the 14 journalists that strive to be the best can be in this industry.

The winners of the media awards 2022 are,

  1. SIBC –the newsroom of the year,
  2. Jared koli (SIBC) most outstanding reporter of the year,
  3. Mavis Podokolo (Island Sun) young journalist of the year and
  4. Ofani Eremae-Investigative journalist,
  5. Jeremy Gwao, freelance reporter excellence in climate reporting,
  6. Ronald Toito’ona, (Solomon Star) Excellence in feature writing,
  7. Mavis Podokolo, excellence in reporting on the pandemic,
  8. Jimmy Nolan, Solomon Times Online-excellence in social justice reporting,
  9. Crofton Utukana-(SIBC) excellence in sport reporting,
  10. Mannar Levo, freelance filmmaker-visual storytelling,
  11. Grace palapu (SIBC) broadcast storytelling,
  12. Felix Leve, Barava FM-radio presenter of the year,
  13. Thompson pada-SINU Journalism, student of the year and
  14. Atenia Tahu, MHMS- public relation award.

The theme for this year’s (2022) media award is ‘celebrating achievement and the future”.

MASI believed that by recognising its member’s achievements it allows them to identify what worked so that they can continue to excel in what they do now and in the future.

Meanwhile, MASI is grateful and thank its sponsors for making the event possible for a successful Media Night Awards for MASI.

The Masi thank Telecommunication commission SI, (TCSI), Pacific Media Assistance Scheme (PACMAS), Solomon Business Magazine (SBM), Australian High Commissioner(AHC), Bred Bank, Aaron Alsop(SINIS), Heritage park hotel (HP), Hatanga construction, Sape medical clinic, Solomon islands ports authority(SIPA), Telekom television Solomon Islands and the office of the Prime minister.

MASI also extend its thank you to Solomon Breweries, Homegrown Studio for the volunteer services of live streaming the event, the print (Gloria Hong) for printing services and the United Nation agencies.
