A rural church worker, and retired teacher, Hudson Dika Zamabule, who received pairs of reading glasses, a distance glass, and a sunglass from the U.S. Navy Optometry Team after undergoing an eye examination at the Good Samaritan Hospital said thanked the U.S. Navy ophthalmologists for offering the free eye-check services to the people of Guadalcanal.

“The Pacific Partnership mission has given us free eye-checks and examination services out of their love and heart – and I would like to thank them,” he said. “Eye treatment or check-up services are very expensive in the Solomon Islands; a reading glass costs almost $80 for a pair especially if you go to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) – Eye Centre.”

He said he is super excited and wants to celebrate the total restoration of his sight.

“Now that I have my sight back, I want to say that I am healed, and I want to celebrate God’s gift of sight.

“After almost ten years, I can’t see from far and also from a close distance and it’s blurry. For now, my eyesight problem is solved,” Hudson told Sunday Isles with a huge smile.
