THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have continued to fight and reduce crime in Honiara in preparation for the Pacific Games 2023, which is only a few weeks away.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “RSIPF officers with the assistance of Solomon International Assistance Force (SIAF) have carried out an operation targeting brewing and selling of kwaso (homebrew) on 20 October 2023.”

“The team have successfully raided a few properties around Aekavo community (Vara Creek) and have retrieved kwaso brewing utensils including containers full of kwaso. There were no arrests made as the suspects fled before we got there. Nonetheless we will still investigate and identify the owners and will charge them accordingly,” says PPC Robo.

Chief Superintendent Robo said, “From Vara Creek the team conducted a foot beat through the central Honiara City on their way back to Central Police Station. Along the way, we have stopped at market stalls to ensure that there are no illegal substances or activities. Whilst some officers conduct a search, two senior officers address the crowd and deliver awareness talks.”

I am pleased to have received positive feedback from bystanders during our raid and awareness talks. We will continue with our high visibility operations and appreciate if we could have the support of our fellow citizens,” says PPC Robo.
