Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare last week assured rural farmers, buyers and exporters of cocoa, copra and other emerging commodities that CEMA now trading as “Solomon Commodities” will continue to work hard to secure reliable access to domestic and export markets for their products.

Sogavare acknowledged that farmers in rural areas have been neglected for the past 20 plus years and now their place and space in the rural economy is truly well established through the revitalization of CEMA now trading as Solomon Commodities.

“I would like to assure all our rural farmers throughout the Country that CEMA, now Solomon Commodities, is here to stay and will continue to work together with you all to ensure that you have reliable access to domestic and export markets. You have been neglected for the past 20 plus years and now your place and space in our rural economy is truly well established through this program,” Sogavare said.

The Prime Minister further assured the Solomon Commodities Board and Management that the DCGA as a responsible Government is serious in reviving the trading of key commodities and continue to develop further emerging commodities for domestic and export markets.

He acknowledged the tireless efforts and collaboration between the Board and Management of Solomon Commodities, the Solomon Commodities Technical Working Committee and the Cabinet Sub Committee Secretariat Staff for the commitment, sacrifice and technical input into the recapitalization and revitalization of the organization.

“You have done a great job and work well done in steering and guiding preparations for this historical event,” Sogavare said.
