On Wednesday, August 3, people on Ulawa island in the Makira Ulawa Province gathered together at Piru Piru CHS to mark Makira Ulawa Province’s 39th Second appointed day.
The official program started off with a parade attended by schools, church groups and the raising and saluting of the national and provincial flag by members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
Attending the celebration representing the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government and the guest of honour is the Deputy Premiere and member for North Ulawa ward, Honorable Davis Maemae, Honorable Brook Wa’o, MUP’s Minister of Commerce and member for South Ulawa ward and other members from the provincial government and representative from the Ulawa-Ugi constituency.
The celebrations was made possible with assistance from the Makira Ulawa Provincial government and the Ulawa Ugi constituency office in Honiara. The program successfully ends with feasting and entertainment.
