Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS), Pauline McNeil has revealed that as of Friday 17 September, 120,515 vaccine doses have been administered.
Ms. McNeil was speaking during the COVID Talk Back show today at SIBC.
She revealed that out of the 120,515 vaccine administered, 26,710 have taken their second dose which represents a mere 6.4 percent of the eligible population which is 414,327 people.
“Please make an effort to go get vaccinated, this is inorder that we may reach the 80 percent benchmark which is 331,461 of the total eligible population of 414,327,” PS McNeil appealed.
She further revealed that according to the ministry’s record, some people have long since overdue the time to recieve their second vaccine dose.
The Health Ministry PS reiterated that if the borders is to be reopen, the only way is to get the vaccination rate to reach the 80 percent benchmark.
