PM Manele also acknowledged Australia support towards a border facility in Temotu Province.
He highlighted the significance of ongoing training and development programs provided by Australia to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), noting that the benefits of these trainings and development programmes will also be evident as the RSIPF leads security operations during the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM).
The Prime Minister expressed his government’s appreciation for Australia’s contribution to preparations for the PIFLM, stating that Australia remains the largest contributor to the event.
He also noted Australia offer with logistics support for Leaders’ Retreat in Noro, and Australia to liaise with PILN National Organizing Committee on that offer.
PM Manele reaffirmed that Australia remains the Solomon Islands’ key development partner.
In response, Admiral David Johnstone assured the Prime Minister of Australia’s continued support in the area of security and encouraged the Solomon Islands Government to communicate any additional security needs ahead of the PIFLM as early as possible.
