The Australian Government has opened the second round of the Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) ballot.
This offers an exciting opportunity for Solomon Islanders to become a permanent resident in Australia.
The ballot will remain open until 25 August 2025.
Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong said the Pacific Engagement Visa highlights Australia’s commitment to the Pacific family and Timor-Leste.
“The opening of the second ballot is a milestone in an initiative that will offer life-changing opportunities for families and communities in our region,” Minister Wong said.
As with the first round in 2024, this second round allows up to 150 Solomon Islanders to become permanent residents of Australia, with the chance to bring their partners and dependent children.
PEV holders can move freely between Australia and their home countries over their lifetime, delivering education, skills and economic dividends for the region and linking us more closely together.
The PEV enables holders to access Australia’s universal healthcare, education system, English language programs, and financial support for further study and training.
To support Solomon Islanders through the process, a dedicated local PEV Support Service is available.
The team is running a series of free information sessions, including:
- Ballot Information Sessions (online and in-person)
- Pre-departure Briefings (for singles and couples)
- Online Employment Support Check-ins
For more information or to register for a session, contact the local team at Solomons@pevsupport.com.au.
The Pacific Engagement Visa is more than just a migration program-it is Australia’s mobility partnership to strengthen links between Australia and Solomon Islands.
